Industrial Fiberglass FRP Dampers

Standard metal dampers corrode and fail in chemical fume, acid exhaust, and wastewater off-gas environments.
FRP dampers built with vinyl ester resins resist that degradation and maintain airflow control in conditions that destroy carbon steel and galvanized alternatives within months.
Knape Associates supplies the full range of fiberglass reinforced plastic dampers and louvers for corrosive process applications.
Control dampers, backdraft dampers, fixed-blade louvers, and round isolation dampers are available in FRP construction with AMCA-certified air leakage and performance ratings. Your application determines the configuration.
Our engineering team reviews your process conditions, temperature range, and chemical exposure before recommending a selection.

FRP Damper and Louver Types
| FRP Product Type | Configuration | Application |
|---|---|---|
| Fiberglass Control Dampers | Center-pivoted, opposed or parallel blade, manual or motor-operated | Volume control and isolation in corrosive exhaust and supply systems |
| Backdraft Dampers | Gravity-operated, vertical or horizontal mount, flange or duct connection | Backflow prevention on corrosive exhaust fans and blowers |
| Fiberglass Fixed Blade Louvers | Drainable blade, wall or penthouse mount, optional insect screen | Air intake and exhaust openings in corrosive environments |
| Round FRP Control Dampers | Center-pivoted, single blade, duct-mounted | Round duct isolation and volume control in odor control and corrosive HVAC |
| FRP Automatic Shutters | End-pivoted, gravity-close, sized to match fan openings | Propeller fan and roof ventilator isolation in chemical processing |
All FRP dampers use vinyl ester resin construction for chemical resistance. Extended shafts allow manual or actuator-driven operation with linkage concealed outside the airstream. Maximum temperature ratings reach 200°F. Every type accepts flange or duct mounting, with optional flange drilling to match your ductwork.
FRP Dampers for Corrosive Process Environments
Corrosive fumes, acid vapors, and moisture destroy metal dampers. We supply FRP dampers and louvers for systems where carbon steel and galvanized alternatives fail within months. Wastewater treatment plants, chemical processing facilities, pulp and paper mills, and semiconductor cleanrooms all run our FRP airflow control equipment.
Configurations We Spec for Your Process Conditions
Every damper gets matched to your chemical exposure, temperature range, and airflow requirements. Options we spec regularly:
- AMCA-certified models for documented air leakage and performance data
- Fire-retardant resins with Class 1 flame spread ratings
- Abrasion-resistant coatings for erosive exhaust streams
- Nexus surface veils for severe chemical exposure
- Electrostatic grounding for flammable vapor environments
Complete Corrosion-Resistant Exhaust Systems
FRP dampers handle isolation and volume control. Droplet separators strip moisture from mist-laden or saturated airstreams before it reaches downstream equipment. FRP-coated fans move the air. FRP louvers protect the building envelope. The full exhaust path stays corrosion-resistant from process area to atmosphere.
Why Source FRP Dampers Through a Multi-Manufacturer Distributor
Your Spec Stays Intact When Lead Times Shift
Each FRP manufacturer has strengths in specific configurations and size ranges. Going direct limits your options to one catalog.
Our team pulls from multiple FRP product lines to match each damper and louver to your process conditions, size requirements, and delivery timeline. If one manufacturer is backed up, an equivalent comes from another line without rewriting your spec.
One Purchase Order, One Point of Contact
A single PO covers every FRP damper, louver, and shutter on your project. One point of contact handles submittals, lead times, and shipping.
Our engineering team reviews your process conditions and area requirements before quoting. Call 713-467-2777.
