Indeeco Equipment We Distribute
Indeeco electric heaters divide into 4 families, and each one is sized on a different set of numbers.
Duct and unit heaters are sized on airflow and temperature rise.
Immersion and circulation heaters are sized on the fluid and the watt density it will tolerate.
Explosion-proof models are chosen by area classification first and capacity second.
| Product family | What it heats | How it is specified | Knape page |
|---|---|---|---|
| Electric duct heaters | Air inside ducts and air handling units | CFM, entering and leaving air temperature, duct size, voltage | Duct heaters |
| Unit heaters | Open spaces such as warehouses, shops and docks | kW, mounting height, discharge direction, voltage and phase | Unit heaters |
| Immersion and tank heaters | Liquids and gases in tanks and vessels, from -300°F to 1000°F | Fluid, volume, target temperature, watt density, sheath material | Immersion heaters |
| Screw plug immersion heaters | Smaller tanks and pipe systems through a threaded opening | NPT size, kW, sheath material, thermostat type | Screw plug heaters |
| Tank and pipe insert heaters | Large storage tanks, sumps and process reservoirs | Tank volume, heat loss, insertion length, mounting flange | Tank and pipe insert heaters |
| Explosion-proof heaters | Classified areas in oil, gas, chemical and marine plants | Class, Division and Group, T-code, then kW | Explosion-proof heaters |
| Tubular and finned elements | OEM equipment and field-built heater assemblies | Sheath material, watt density, terminal type, bend pattern | Industrial heating elements |
| Fin tube radiators | Perimeter heating in offices, schools and healthcare | Linear feet, water or steam temperature, enclosure style | Fin tube radiators |
Indeeco has been building this equipment since 1929 and is vertically integrated. It makes its own heating elements, fabricates its own sheet metal, builds its own electronic controls, and welds its own ASME pressure vessels.
That is why a non-standard vessel or an unusual sheath material is a normal order rather than a special project.
What We Need to Quote an Indeeco Heater
A complete Indeeco quote needs seven pieces of information. Send what you have and we will tell you what is missing, but a request with all seven usually comes back the same day.
- Application. What is being heated: air in a duct, a space, or a fluid in a vessel.
- Capacity. kW if you know it, or the temperature rise and flow rate so we can calculate it.
- Flow. CFM for air, gallons and target temperature for liquid.
- Electrical. Voltage, phase and available breaker size.
- Dimensions. Duct size, vessel size, or the opening the heater passes through.
- Area classification. Class, Division and Group if the area is classified, or confirmation that it is not.
- Materials. Any corrosion, washdown or sanitary requirement that rules out standard steel.
Area classification is the item most often left off, and it is the one that changes the heater entirely. A Class I Division 1 area rules out every standard unit heater in the catalog, so confirming it first prevents a requote.

Indeeco Models We Stock and Quote
Most Indeeco enquiries arrive as a model code off a nameplate rather than a specification. These are the series we carry pages for, and we quote every other Indeeco series on request.
- UHIR series unit heater — fan forced, 50 standard models up to 50 kW at 208, 240, 277 and 480 volts, for clean non-hazardous spaces.
- QUA and QUZ duct heaters — standard open coil duct heaters for air handling and air conditioning equipment.
- Explosion-proof unit and duct heaters — for classified areas where a standard cabinet is not permitted.
- Explosion-proof screw plug immersion heaters — threaded immersion heating in a classified area.
Common Questions
Is Knape Associates an authorized Indeeco distributor?
Yes. Knape Associates is an authorized Indeeco distributor and manufacturer's rep, covering the full line Indeeco has built since 1929 rather than a single product family. We quote duct heaters, unit heaters, immersion and circulation heaters, explosion-proof models and heating elements from Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth, and we ship nationwide.
How do I find the Indeeco rep for my area?
Call Knape Associates at 713-467-2777. We are the Indeeco rep for Texas and the Gulf Coast and we quote all eight Indeeco product families nationwide, so in most cases you do not need to search further. If your project sits inside another rep's territory we will say so on the first call.
What information does Knape need to size an Indeeco heater?
Seven items: the application, the capacity in kW or the required temperature rise, the flow rate in CFM or gallons, voltage and phase, the duct or vessel dimensions, the area classification, and any corrosion or washdown requirement. Area classification is the one most often missing and the one that changes the heater entirely.
Which Indeeco heaters are rated for Class I Division 1 and Division 2 areas?
Indeeco builds three explosion-proof families for classified areas: unit heaters, duct heaters and screw plug immersion heaters. Standard cabinet models such as the 50-model UHIR series are rated for clean, non-hazardous spaces only. Confirm the Class, Division and Group against the specific model before selecting capacity, because the rating decides the heater.
Does Knape ship Indeeco equipment outside Texas?
Yes. Knape Associates ships Indeeco equipment nationwide from two Texas offices, Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth. Texas and the Gulf Coast are our home territory, which means faster site visits and shorter lead times on regional projects, but the Indeeco line is quoted and shipped across all 50 states.
