Scrubber Fans for Wet and Fume Scrubbers
Need scrubber fans for a new wet or fume scrubber, or a replacement for a fan that has corroded? We handle both. We match the fan to your airflow, static pressure, airstream chemistry, temperature, and induced or forced draft layout.
Our offices are in Houston and Dallas-Fort Worth, serving Texas and the Gulf Coast, and we ship nationwide.

Scrubber Fans and FRP Equipment Ranges
We supply FRP scrubber fans from 100 to 105,000 CFM and up to 30 in. W.G., plus the FRP duct and dampers that connect the fan to the scrubber.
| Equipment | Range | Best fit |
|---|---|---|
| FRP backward-curved centrifugal fans | 800 to 105,000 CFM, free delivery to 30 in. W.G., 12 to 60 in. wheels, up to 250°F | Main induced draft fan for wet, chemical and odor control scrubbers |
| High-pressure FRP blowers | 100 to 14,600 CFM, up to 8 in. W.G., 10 to 33 in. wheels, up to 200°F | Small scrubbers, packed towers and tight duct runs |
| Spark-resistant fans | AMCA Type A, B or C construction | Solvent-laden or flammable fume exhaust |
| FRP duct | Round 4 to 72 in., rectangular 12 to 96 in., -30 to +30 in. W.G. (SMACNA design range) | Fan inlet and discharge runs to and from the scrubber |
| FRP isolation and control dampers | Sized to the duct | Isolating each fan or scrubber train for service |
Scrubber Fan Questions
Does a scrubber fan go before or after the scrubber?
A scrubber fan usually goes after the scrubber as an induced draft fan, where it handles air at about 100% relative humidity. Pulling air through the tower keeps the scrubber and its inlet duct under negative pressure, so a leak draws air in instead of pushing fumes out. A drain in the fan housing removes the condensate.
What temperature can an FRP scrubber fan handle?
An FRP scrubber fan built with vinyl ester resin handles airstreams up to 250°F. Above 250°F, the fan needs a higher-temperature resin or a stainless steel build, and we choose between them on the airstream temperature and chemistry. The same vinyl ester resin carries a Class I flame spread rating of 25 or less.
Can you replace a corroded scrubber fan without changing the duct?
A corroded scrubber fan can be replaced without changing the duct when the new fan matches the old fan's airflow, static pressure, rotation and discharge position. FRP centrifugal fans are built in six drive arrangements, 1, 4, 8, 9, 9M and 10, so the new fan can keep the old fan's direct-drive or belt-drive layout.
Scrubber Fans by Scrubber Type
A scrubber fan is the fan that moves contaminated air through a wet, chemical, fume or odor control scrubber. The scrubber type sets the fan’s material, wheel and pressure rating, because each type changes what the air carries and how hard the fan has to pull.
Wet Scrubber Fans
Wet scrubber fans move air that carries water droplets and dissolved acid or caustic from the scrubber liquid. Packed towers and venturi scrubbers add their own pressure drop, so the fan is sized for the scrubber and the duct together. FRP backward-curved fans cover most wet scrubbers.
Industrial Air Scrubber Fans
Industrial air scrubber is used for two different machines. We supply fans for process scrubbers that clean exhaust from a plant, not portable HEPA air scrubbers used in construction and mold cleanup.
Induced Draft Fans for Scrubbers
An induced draft fan pulls air through the scrubber from the clean side. Backward-inclined blower fans are a common choice here because their horsepower does not overload the motor when the scrubber pressure drop changes.
Chemical Scrubber Fans
Chemical scrubbers use a liquid reagent to remove acid gases such as hydrogen chloride, chlorine and ammonia. The fan resin is matched to both the gas and the reagent, since either one can attack the wrong resin. For refineries and chemical plants along the Gulf Coast, see our petrochemical and refinery HVAC equipment.
Fume Scrubber Fans
Fume scrubbers clean exhaust from laboratories, plating lines and semiconductor wet benches. Smaller fume scrubbers at low static pressure often run on forward-curved FRP fans, which move high volume from a compact housing.
Fume Exhaust Fans
A fume exhaust fan pulls fumes from a hood, tank or process line, and often feeds the scrubber downstream. Where the fan has to sit in the duct run, inline mixed-flow fans save floor space.
Odor Control Scrubber Fans
Odor control scrubbers at wastewater plants remove hydrogen sulfide from headworks, wet well and sludge handling air. The fan needs a shaft seal so odor does not leak at the bearing, and FRP or coated construction to resist hydrogen sulfide. We supply the full set of wastewater treatment ventilation equipment.
