Radial blowers generate high static pressure, but the wheel design dictates the application. We help you choose between the two main industrial standards

Open Radial (Paddle Wheel) These are used for material handling. The impeller features flat open blades radiating from the hub. This design prevents material from building up on the blades. Choose this type if you are moving air that contains dust wood chips or granular exhaust.

Shrouded Radial (Backplate) These wheels add a backplate and sometimes a front shroud to the blades. This reinforces the wheel and improves aerodynamic efficiency. Choose this type for clean air applications where high pressure is required such as combustion air blowers or process cooling.

Critical Sizing Factors

To quote you accurately we look beyond just the motor horsepower. We verify your system curve against the manufacturer’s performance map to prevent surging and ensure motor longevity.

Please have these three numbers ready for your quote

• Static Pressure (SP) Radial blowers excel at high resistance typically 6 to 100 plus WG. If your pressure is low we might recommend a different fan type
• Airflow (CFM) The volume of air required at the inlet
• Airstream Composition Is the air clean or does it carry particulate. This determines if you need an Open Wheel to avoid clogging or a Shrouded Wheel for efficiency
